Appalachia Service Project 2020

JUNE 21-27, 2020

Our Partner: Appalachia Service Project (https://www.asphome.org) are making homes warmer, safer, and drier for families and providing  transformational service experiences for volunteers. They bring volunteers from around the country to rural Central Appalachia to repair homes for low-income families. Trinity and Element are excited about a new partnership with ASP and the future to come with this ministry.

FAQ’s

Question: Why ASP?

Answer: Appalachia Service Projects provides a unique opportunity for our students to not only do hands-on repair work, but also equally important, they are able to develop meaningful and transformational relationships with their home owners. One of the best ways to begin making a kingdom-sized impact is through relationships just as much as repairing a front porch. ASP has a proven track record of 50 years of ministry, impacting over 19,000 families!

Question: Cost?

Answer: Tentative $335 (+ $25 Late Fee If Registering After May 14th). Scholarships are available for ANY student in need.

Question: Where will we be going?

Answer: Jonesville, VA. However, ASP is active throughout the central appalachian region. To take a look at their many locations and centers than can be seen here on their website.

Question: What kind of work will we be doing?

Answer: ASP is known for their incredible work in home repair. The work we do will be dependent on the need of the homeowner we are assigned. For more information, check out their website.

SUMMER MISSIONS REGISTRATION AND DEADLINE POLICY

Please Review In Full

HIGH SCHOOL AND MIDDLE SCHOOL SUMMER MISSIONS FIRST REGISTRATION DEADLINE: Thursday, May 14 at 7:00 PM CST.*

TRIP CANCELLATIONS:
Refunds (less the $100 deposit) can be issued prior to THURSDAY, JUNE 4 at 7:00 PM CST.
All payments after June 4 cannot be refunded as all finances will be rolled over to the mission organizations at that time.

*What Does This Mean?
Registration, while having a May 14 deadline, will remain open throughout the remainder of the summer. However, a $25 late fee registration will be applied to the overall cost of your student’s trip if you register anytime after May 14th.

*Why Are We Doing This?
As our summer mission trips have grown in size, it has become increasingly difficult to best prepare our teams when (on average) 55% of our students and adult leaders register within the final 5 weeks of the trip departure. By creating this deadline, our hope is to have 85-90% of our spots filled (if not all spots filled), allowing for our team to best serve our communities.

*Can I Still Receive a Scholarship?
Absolutely. Financial burdens will never prevent you from participating in the chance to be the hands and feet of Christ for our neighbors. Simply select between the ‘partial’ and ‘full’ scholarship options during registration.

What About Adult Leaders? Do You Still Need Some? YES!
We currently need (15) ASP Adult Leaders.
NO Construction Expertise Required! COST: We Cover It! (Feel free to pay part/full if you can).

Thank you so much for your help and understanding! We do hope that this better allows your family to plan your summer calendar. If you have any questions about this new policy and/or the summer trips overall, please do not hesitate to ask!
